Our Story

Built to make supply recruitment fairer - for everyone.

LuminEd started with a frustration. Schools were overpaying for cover they could barely plan around. Supply teachers were underearning for work they were fully qualified to do. And nobody was asking why.

Why LuminEd Exists

The UK supply teacher market is broken.

The problem

Schools are under pressure.Supply staff are undervalued.

Schools spend thousands on agency fees every term - often without knowing who they'll get until the person shows up at the door. Supply teachers do the same work for significantly less pay, because an agency is taking a cut they never agreed to.

LuminEd was built to change that.

Why now?

We're a platform - not an agency. We don't take commission from teachers. We don't place staff on your behalf. We give schools and supply teachers the tools to find each other directly, and get out of the way.

What We Believe

Clear principles shape the way the platform is built.

Schools deserve transparency

You should know exactly who you are hiring and exactly what it will cost before you commit.

Supply teachers deserve fair pay

Experienced, qualified teachers shouldn't lose 20–40% of their earnings to a company that added no value.

Compliance shouldn't be optional

Every candidate is verified before appearing in search results - DBS, identity, and right to work.

Simple is better

The platform is built to do one thing well: connect schools with supply staff quickly, clearly and affordably.

LuminEd is built to support both sides of the supply equation - schools looking for reliable cover, and education professionals looking for flexible, fairly paid work.

Built by people who've seen the problem from both sides.

LuminEd was founded to create a simpler, fairer way for schools and supply staff to work together.

Our Story

LuminEd was founded by two brothers - one who spent years inside an education recruitment agency, and one who spent years working in schools. Between them, they'd seen the same broken system from every angle.

Schools paying over the odds for cover they couldn't rely on. Supply teachers losing a significant chunk of their earnings to agencies that added little real value. And a recruitment process that had barely changed in decades, despite the tools now available to do it better.

So they built LuminEd - a platform that removes the agency entirely, and gives schools and supply staff the tools to work together directly.

Our Vision

A simpler, fairer way to connect schools with supply staff.

No inflated fees. No unnecessary middlemen. Just fast, transparent access to verified educators - and more control for the people doing the work.
